4k for Food
This 2.5 mile fun walk/run Race was a great example of creative partnerships with BIG impacts.
Partners included the Town of Elizabethtown, Elizabethtown/White Lake Chamber of Commerce, Bladen Community College, Health Department, Cooperative Extension and 4-H, HealthWorks Fitness and Wellness, Healthy Bladen and Bladen Crisis Assistance.
87 runners participated in the race and in the end, more than $8,500 was raised for the Second Harvest Food Bank affiliate which enabled them to purchase over 44,700 pounds of food (WOW!). Due to the success of the first year, the committee plans to make this an annual event.
We hope this project RUNs (get it . . . ) for a long time because the reward at the “Finish Line” helps so many in need!
