Food & Fins

Gone Fishin. Check out the Gate's County 4-H  “Fins for Food” Bass Fishing Tournament. I mean really . . . who wouldn’t want to spend the day out on the water for a great cause! I know - I would!

On October 23rd at Bayside Marina in Edenton, fishing enthusiasts spent the day fishing for awards like the “Big Fish” (the winning fish – a large mouth bass - weighed in @ over 3lbs – that’s a BIG FISH)! And, the “Total Weight Award” for the boat with the biggest catch-of-the-day.

Participants took away prize money - $440 for 1st place and $185 for 2nd place. That alone makes you want to take up fishing doesn’t it! ☺

But, the BIGGEST winner that day, was the Albemarle Food Bank, who was able to purchase over 1,120 pounds of food from the profits made by the tournament (WOW).

You’ve all heard the old saying “ Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” Well, hats off to you Gates County 4-H you did both!
