NC State "Hunger Pack"

Hats off to the NC State 4-H Collegiate Club for their campus-wide “Hunger Pack.”

During National 4-H week the collegiate 4-H group took part and challenged other NC State students to “Fast for 24 Hours” (no food for 24 hours). Collegiate 4-H’ers camped out on the NC state brickyard to bring attention to the issue of Hunger & Food Insecurity and gave out flyers with “24 Facts about Hunger in NC.”

This campaign wasn’t about raising money or securing canned food – its goal was to raise awareness of the issue of Hunger and Food Insecurity in this state. It’s one thing to say “1 in 5 children goes to bed hungry every night in NC” and another to actually “GO to bed hungry Yourself.”

Hundreds of NC State students took part in the “Hunger Pack” – even NC State’s Chancellor Woodson – signed a “24 Hour Fast Pledge.”
